How to measure & fit your cellular blind
Honeycomb cells that insulate and soften light. Measure in millimetres — give us the exact recess for an inside fit and we handle the deductions.
1 · Decide inside or outside fit
Inside the recess
Inside (recess) fit
Sits in the recess with a slim headrail; 50 mm depth is enough. Give the exact recess size.
On the wall / frame
Outside (face) fit
Mounts on the wall for maximum insulation and light block. Add +40 mm each side and +50 mm at the top.
Which size do I enter? Inside fit — enter the exact opening; we deduct for a smooth-running fit. Outside fit — you decide how far the blind goes over the reveal, so enter the finished size you want (opening + your overlap) and we make it to that exact size.
2 · Measure
Measure the width top, middle and bottom — use the narrowest.
- Width — 3 places, use the narrowest.
- Drop — top of recess to sill. The cells compress to a slim stack at the top.
- Enter the exact recess for inside fit; add overlap for outside fit.
- Choose your control side when ordering.
We make the deductions for a snug, draught-cutting fit — RightFit covers a mis-measure.
Online size range: up to 3000 mm wide × 3000 mm drop. Larger (or an awkward shape)? Book a free measure and we size it exactly.
3 · Fit it
You’ll need

- Fix the headrail brackets level, near each end.
- Clip the headrail into the brackets.
- Test raise and lower a few times.
- Fit the cord safety device (or enjoy the cordless option) to keep it child-safe.
Insulation tip: a snug recess fit traps the most air in the cells — measure carefully for the best thermal result.
