Information on this website

The content on this website is general information only. It is not an offer and it is not a quotation. We do not publish prices on the website, and orders cannot be placed online.

Products, fabrics, colours and images are shown for illustration. Availability can change, and colours vary from screen to screen, so the finished product may not look exactly as it does here. Ask to see physical samples before you decide.

Quotations are made in writing

Nothing on this website commits us to a price or an order. We give prices only in a written quotation, usually after we have measured. Only a quotation issued in writing is binding, and your order is confirmed when you accept it and pay the required deposit.

Intellectual property

The text, photographs and design of this website are protected by copyright. You may view and share our pages for personal use. You may not copy or reuse our content for commercial purposes without our written permission. Google reviews, including reviewers’ photos, belong to the people who posted them.

Other websites and services

When you follow a link to another website, such as Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, that website’s own terms and privacy policy apply, and we are not responsible for its content. Some of our pages also show content from Google Maps, Google Reviews and our Instagram feed. Our Privacy Policy explains what information this shares.

Our liability for this website

We take care to keep this website accurate, but we cannot guarantee that it is always complete, current or free of errors or interruptions. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that arises from your use of this website or from relying on its general information. This does not apply to loss caused by our gross negligence. Your written quotation, not this website, sets out what you are buying.

Privacy and cookies

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website, including the contact form, how we use it, and your rights.

This website uses cookies. Google Analytics, set up through Google Site Kit and Google Tag Manager, measures how visitors use the site, including which links are clicked. Its cookies can last up to two years. Google reCAPTCHA checks browser and device signals to protect our contact form from spam, and may set its own cookie. Our pages also load fonts, maps and reviews from Google. Google may process this information outside South Africa, including in the USA.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. A change does not alter a quotation you have already accepted.

Quotations, orders and installations

These terms apply to every Total Blind Design quotation. By accepting a quotation and paying the required deposit, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms. If your written quotation says something different from this page, the quotation applies. Nothing in these terms or in a quotation limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Where a clause conflicts with that Act, the Act applies.

Clauses that limit our responsibility, or place a risk or cost on you, are shown in bold. You can save or print this page for your records.

1. Quotation validity

Your quotation is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. After that, prices may change without notice. If your measurements have not been confirmed in writing, we may need to measure again.

2. Deposit and payment

Payment terms are those set out on your written quotation. We accept payment by EFT only. Our standard structure is:

  • 60% deposit to confirm your order
  • 35% due 24 to 48 hours before installation
  • 5% final balance, due on installation sign-off

Another split, such as an 80% deposit and 20% on installation sign-off, may be agreed and shown on your quotation. We release goods only once we have received the full payment due at that stage.

3. Lead times

Our standard lead time is 10 to 15 working days from the day we receive your deposit and your measurements are confirmed. Motorised, custom or imported products may take longer. If there is a delay, we will tell you promptly. If we agreed a delivery or installation date with you and then offer a different one, you may accept the new date or cancel without penalty (Consumer Protection Act, section 19). Clause 5 does not apply to a cancellation of that kind.

4. Measurements and site responsibility

Measurements are taken by a qualified Total Blind Design consultant. If you give us your own measurements, we are not responsible if items are the wrong size because of them. If we have to visit again because of an error in your measurements, we may charge a re-measure fee. We remain responsible for making and fitting the product correctly to the measurements you gave us.

5. Manufacturing and cancellations

Manufacturing starts once we receive your deposit. If you cancel after that, we keep your full deposit. Changes to a confirmed order may cost extra.

This does not limit your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. If your order followed direct marketing, where we approached you first, you may cancel in writing within five business days after you accepted the quotation or after delivery, whichever is later, without giving a reason and without penalty (section 16).

6. Installation

Installation is included where your quotation includes it, and removing your old blinds is free. You must make sure we have clear, safe access to the work area. Surcharges may apply for difficult access, high ceilings, or work outside our standard installation hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00).

7. Functional Completion

Functional Completion is the point at which your window treatments are securely mounted and working for light control, privacy, or both. It is reached even if there are minor cosmetic issues (Snags), such as fabric puckering, alignment or touch-ups. A Snag does not undo Functional Completion and is not a reason to hold back any payment that is due. We record Snags at handover and fix them at no charge within 21 working days.

8. Limit on amounts held back

If you dispute that Functional Completion has been reached, you may hold back no more than 5% of the project balance. This limit does not apply to payments due before installation. Those must be paid in full, as set out in clause 2.

Clauses 7 and 8 do not limit your rights under the Consumer Protection Act if a product or the installation is defective.

9. Warranty

Our products carry a 2-year warranty from the date of installation. Urban and Taylor shutters and Mode Outdoor and Mode 0 screen fabrics carry a 10-year warranty. SheerWeave 4500 and 4901 screen fabrics and motorisation carry a 5-year warranty. Other fabric and component warranties follow each manufacturer’s own terms. The warranty does not apply where there has been misuse, unauthorised alterations or external damage. This warranty is in addition to your rights under sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, which you can enforce against us directly.

10. Fabric and colour variation

Fabric swatches and samples are a guide only. Small differences in colour and texture between a sample and the finished product are normal in our industry, and are not grounds for rejecting the product or for a refund. This does not apply if the product does not reasonably match the fabric, colour or specification you approved, or if it is defective.

11. Returns and refunds

Custom-made products cannot be returned or refunded if you change your mind. If an item is defective, we will repair or replace it at our discretion, except where the Consumer Protection Act gives you the choice.

Under section 56 of that Act, if a product is defective within six months of delivery, you may return it at our risk and cost and choose whether we repair it, replace it or refund you. If we repair it and the same or a new defect appears within three months, we will replace it or refund you. If our installation work is not of the standard you are entitled to expect, you may ask us to put it right or to refund a reasonable part of the price (section 54).

12. Governing law

South African law applies to these terms. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Western Cape Division of the High Court, Cape Town. This does not limit your right to use the other routes listed under “Complaints” below.

Child safety

Loose cords and chains on some blinds and curtains can be a strangulation risk for young children. Keep cords and chains out of children’s reach.

Complaints

If something is not right, please contact us first, using the details below, so that we can look into it. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za), the Western Cape Office of the Consumer Protector or the National Consumer Commission. Where the law allows, you may also go to the Small Claims Court or a Magistrates’ Court.
