Every price below is per blind, including VAT, for blinds you design and order online.

What affects the price of a blind

Made-to-measure means the price follows your window, not a one-size box. Five things move it:

• Size — a blind is priced on its finished width × drop. A large patio window naturally costs more than a small bathroom one.
• Fabric & opacity — screen, light-filter, blockout and designer ranges each sit at a different price. Within roller blinds alone there are hundreds of fabrics across price bands.
• Operation — manual chain is standard; Somfy motorisation (remote or app control) adds convenience and cost, and is worth it on large or hard-to-reach windows.
• Options — a cassette or pelmet for a neat finish, control-side and colour choices, and bracket type (reveal vs face fit) all factor in.
• Fit — supply-only (you install) is the lowest cost; supply-and-fit by our team adds a measure-and-install fee but guarantees a perfect result.

Every blind price includes the delivery from the Blind Designs factory to Cape Town, so there is nothing to add for that. The courier from our Maitland workshop to your door is quoted at checkout, or collect for free in Cape Town. Order three or more blinds and the saving on the shared factory delivery comes off automatically in your cart. Wave curtains are made in our own workroom, so their price carries no factory delivery.

How much do blinds cost per window in South Africa?

For a standard window, made-to-measure blinds typically run from around R710 for a small aluminium venetian to R1,500–R2,500 for a mid-size roller, cellular or wood venetian, including VAT. Large windows, premium fabrics and motorisation cost more. The quickest way to know is to enter your size in the relevant designer — the price is exact, not an estimate.

Are made-to-measure blinds more expensive than ready-made?

They can start a little higher, but they fit your window exactly — no gaps, no cutting down, no light leaks — and they last. Because ours are priced online with no showroom markup, made-to-measure is often closer to ready-made than people expect.

Do you deliver nationwide, or only in Cape Town?

We courier made-to-measure blinds and curtains anywhere in South Africa. Our free in-home measure, and fitting by our own team, is for the Cape Town area; everywhere else, you measure and we deliver, backed by RightFit mis-measure cover (a wrong-size blind is remade at 20% off the full price). City guides: Johannesburg, Durban and Pretoria.

How long do blinds take to make?

Most made-to-measure blinds are manufactured in about 5–7 working days, then couriered to you in 1–3 days. Outdoor free-hang blinds allow around 10–15 working days.
