Blinds in Table View

Table View windows: what we see on every measure

Table View has the view, and it pays for it in wind and salt. The afternoon south-easter that fills Blouberg beach with kitesurfers hits every west- and south-facing window on the way, and the north-wester brings rain in winter. The sun comes off Table Bay as a hard glare from midday on, and salt and fine sand ride in on the air to settle on everything. What we specify in Table View

• Screen roller blinds. The first answer to glare off the sea. A screen fabric cuts the dazzle and most of the UV while Table Mountain stays in the frame, and the apartment is private from the promenade by day. • Somfy motorised blinds on beachfront glass: tall, wide and often several in a row. One remote or a schedule, and a west-facing screen that drops itself before the afternoon sun. • Zip X outdoor blinds on balconies and braai areas. A free-hang blind here spends the summer rolled up; a Zip X blind locks the fabric in side tracks, stays down in the south-easter and keeps the sand and insects out. • Blockout and double roller blinds in west-facing bedrooms, where the evening sun comes in low and late in summer.
• 35mm aluminium venetians in kitchens and bathrooms. They wipe clean, shrug off salt and steam, and start at R710 in the aluminium designer.

• Wave curtains for a soft, even fold on apartment glass, made in our own workroom; design them online from R1,165.

Materials matter more here than anywhere else in Cape Town. We specify powder-coated hardware and wipe-down fabrics as standard on the coast, and we tell you at the measure if a window needs something more.

How a measure works in Table View

1. Book a free measure. Online, on 021 447 9062 or on WhatsApp. Tell us roughly how many windows and which way they face.
2. We come to you with samples. Screen fabrics in the colours that give the clearest view, outdoor screens, shutter finishes and motor options, seen in your own light. We measure every window and check the fixings on balconies.
3. You get a written quote. Per window, including VAT, with fitting and the lead time. No obligation.
4. Made to order, fitted by our team. Our own installers hang and adjust every blind and set every motor, and the warranty runs from that day: 2 years on blinds, 10 years on Urban and Taylor shutters and on Mode screen fabrics, 5 years on motorisation.

What it costs

Made to measure and including VAT, our online from-prices are R710 for a 35mm aluminium venetian, R989 for a roller blind, R1,133 for a retro venetian, R1,165 for wave curtains, R1,350 for a wood venetian, R1,671 for a cellular blind and R7,110 for an outdoor free-hang blind. Fitting by our team is R200 per blind plus a once-off R850 call-out per visit. Shutters, Zip X and Somfy motorisation are quoted per window at the measure.
